Severe Housing Disrepair Case

The case:

Our client was living in a rented property in a horrendous state of disrepair with 16 separate issues reported ranging from:

  • damp and mould in multiple rooms
  • the absence of extractor fans
  • rodents in the loft
  • and several instances of missing or damaged fixtures and fittings

The most serious in nature of the reported disrepairs was faeces coming straight from the upstairs toilet into the kitchen with the ceiling having fallen through as a direct result.

How we helped:

Given the severity of the disrepair in her home, TRUE were able to facilitate moving the client from the property immediately into a place of safety in temporary accommodation where the client remained until the repairs were full completed and she also received £1,000 in compensation for the impact of the situation.
