Kieran Magee

Managing Partner and Head of Compliance

Kieran is the Managing Partner and Head of Compliance at TRUE Solicitors LLP.

TRUE Solicitors LLP, head quartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, advises clients on personal injury law, financial mis-selling, consumer law and conveyancing.

Kieran’s legal career spans over 30 years and started in 1983 when he took a position as an outdoor clerk at national law firm Wansbroughs Willey Hargrave.

Kieran joined national firm Russell Jones and Walker and later Leeds firm Ison Harrison in 1992. He was instrumental in establishing their Road Traffic Accident department which rapidly grew in size under his leadership. Whilst employed by the firm he decided to complement his vocational skills with formal qualifications; he studied and eventually passed the ILEX exams before embarking on the solicitor qualifications. He obtained the CPE and LPC qualifications by correspondence, the former from the De Montford University in Leicester in 2001, the latter from the College of Law in York in 2004. Kieran qualified as a solicitor in November 2004.

Kieran joined Gorman Hamilton Solicitors, now TRUE Solicitors LLP, in 2000 to establish their Leeds office. He was appointed salaried partner in 2007 and equity partner in 2008.

From 2007 to 2018 he was a member of the Management Committee of the Motor Accident Solicitors’ Society (MASS) as Regional Co-ordinator for the Yorkshire region. Kieran was also the MASS representative for The Ministry of Justice Claims Management Regulatory Consultative Group.
Kieran is involved in the general management of the firm, advising on matters of legal compliance.

Andrew Mayall

Andrew qualified as a solicitor in 1994. He specialises in accidents at work, public liability accidents and industrial diseases. He also heads a large team of Solicitors, Legal Executives and Paralegals. Andrew has personally dealt with accidents of the utmost severity, recently overseeing a claim where over £5 million was recovered for a seriously injured client.

Andrew is a Chartered Accountant who joined TRUE in 2014, after spending 12 years at a large independent firm of Accountants in Leeds.

Andrew brings with him a wealth of experience in financial reporting, management, taxation and audit, skills which have proven invaluable to the firm. As the firm’s COFA, he has a key compliance role for TRUE, ensuring that the firm protects our clients’ money and is compliant with the Solicitors Accounts Rules. He also ensures the firm is on track with its financial projections, and plays an important role in planning the future strategy for the firm.

He is a keen cyclist, but as a father of two young children, he doesn’t get out as much as he used to!

Caroline Houghton

Operations Manager-Newcastle

Caroline started our Portal team from scratch back in 2015 and now runs the firm’s largest team, with 19 team members under her supervision. In addition to this Caroline is instrumental in developing and implementing the workflows in all areas of the firm, both established and new. She is a key member of the business development team, bringing in several major accounts . She is also the key contact for a number of the firm’s suppliers, including medical agencies, engineers, and introducers.

Kieran is the Managing Partner and Head of Compliance at TRUE Solicitors LLP.

More recently, Hannah began representing clients of Housing Disrepair, managing a team of fee earners in her last role.

Hannah joined True Solicitors LLP in May 2022 as Head of Housing Disrepair, leading our newest & fast-growing department.

Istiaq Hasan

Istiaq is a Lawyer within the Housing Disrepair Department, overseeing claims from its very inception to completion. Istiaq completed his LLB (Hons) and LLM (Business and Commercial Law) followed by Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) in 2011 and was called to the bar in the same year.

Since his call to the bar, he has assumed a number of roles, notable of them are his work as a County Court Advocate whereby he was instructed on a wide range of civil hearings concerning banking law, bankruptcy, small claims trials, personal injury and credit hire litigation. He has also assumed roles as a senior fee earner dealing with complex fraudulent personal injury claims. Most recently, Istiaq performed the role of an In House Counsel and was heavily involved in a range of commercial and consumer law disputes.

Istiaq Joined True Solicitors in December 2021, helping to set up our new Housing Disrepair department.
