No Win, No Fee

No Win, No Fee agreement, otherwise known as a ‘conditional fee’ agreement, is an arrangement between you (the client) and your solicitor when making a legal claim. Simply put it means that should your claim be unsuccessful, you will not be liable to pay the fees for your solicitor’s services (as long as you have co-operated and followed their advice). You will only pay legal fees if your claim is successful.

Legal Expenses Insurance

You may have purchased legal expenses insurance (LEI) when you bought your home or car insurance. This type of insurance place to may cover your legal costs when making or defending a claim.

True Solicitors will review the details of your policy and advise you if you’re eligible to fund your claim through legal expenses insurance.

Trade Union Membership

You may be eligible to fund your claim through your trade union membership, if you have been injured due to the negligent actions of someone else in the last three years. There may be restrictions in place in what exactly you can claim for under the terms and conditions of your membership. We will review the details of your membership and advise you on your eligibility to fund your claim through your trade union membership.

What level of compensation will I receive?

Personal injury compensation levels vary according to a number of different factors. Your file handler will take the following into consideration when calculating the value of your claim:

  • The severity of your injuries
  • How long your recovery will take
  • How long you will be unable to work for
  • Your ongoing and future care needs and medical expenses
  • Current and future financial losses
  • The psychological impact of your injuries

Use our personal injury calculator to find out the approximate level of compensation that you may receive for your physical injuries. Remember however that valuing an injury claim is a complex legal task and because no two cases are identical, personal injury claims payouts will inevitably vary from case to case.

What percentage does a personal injury lawyer take?

The majority of the legal costs incurred in your case will be recovered from the person or company responsible for causing your accident or injury – in most cases this will be covered by their insurer.

Other costs will be covered by what is known as a ‘success fee’ for your Solicitor’s services.  This is typically a percentage of the compensation obtained and will be agree by yourself at the start of the process.  Our success fee ranges from 25% to 30% (+VAT) of the compensation settlement, depending on the type of claim and whether court proceedings are issued.  If we are running your case on a no win/no fee basis we will charge a success fee to be deducted from your compensation.
