The team and partners at True Solicitors have selected local charity Daft as a Brush as their nominated charity to benefit from fundraising activities throughout 2025.

Established in the late 1980’s, the charity, Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care, specialises in transporting cancer patients to and from hospital for their Chemotherapy and / or Radiotherapy treatment, free of charge.

The service involves collecting and transporting patients in a safe and comfortable environment from where they are living to where they will be having their treatment. If required, a volunteer companion will stay with the patient during their Chemotherapy and / or Radiotherapy.

The patient is returned to their home in readiness for their next course of treatment. The charity completes thousands of cancer patient journeys each year with a passionate team of hundreds of volunteers and a large fleet of of ambulances. All donations received go directly to supporting cancer patients on their journey to recovery with Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care.

Each year the charity organises a variety of fundraising activities including:

• The 135 mile Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care Walk: River Tyne Trail Sources to Sea

• Last Night of the Proms Concert at Newcastle City Hall to raise money and awareness for the Charity.

• Spectacular show with the switch-on of 1 million Christmas lights on a 12 metre high Christmas tree and surrounding area at Daft as a Brush House.

• Homemade Christmas Hampers, with jams, cakes and special treats are a ‘Thank You” to the hundreds of volunteers and supporters who have made the work of the charity possible.

• An epic 7,000 mile walk around the coastal path of Great Britain and Ireland

Fundraising by the team at True Solicitors commenced in October 2024 and will continue up until the annual fundraising day which takes place in September 2025.
