Workplace trolley accident

The case:
Our client was in his place of work when instructed by his employer to manoeuvre a makeshift trolley loaded with 2 machines with the assistance of a colleague. The trolley was unstable and difficult to control as the wheels veered off. The client was positioned at the front of the trolley inside its metal framework with his colleague positioned at the rear.
In the process of pushing the trolley, our client’s foot and ankle became trapped under the trolley frame causing an injury. He suffered soft tissue injury to his left foot and ankle which caused long lasting pain.
How we helped:
We arranged additional treatment to what our Client was receiving on the NHS by way of physiotherapy and ultrasound guided injections, along with a consultation with an Orthotist who fitted orthotic insoles. These treatments helped ease our client’s symptoms and he will continue to wear the insoles for the rest of his life, paid for privately as part of the compensation award.
Our client also suffered an impact upon his mental health by way of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and we arranged Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to aid his recovery.
We were successful in demonstrating numerous failures by our client’s employer under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 in failing to provide our client with suitable work equipment and recovered £60,000 in compensation.
