Mr D purchased solar panels in 2016 using finance.
He felt that the benefits of the solar panels had been misrepresented to him as he had been told that the system would be self-funding, but it was not producing the level of benefits he had been promised.
True Solicitors LLP submitted a claim to the finance provider and subsequently had to escalate the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service. The Adjudicator at the Financial Ombudsman Service agreed that the solar panels had been mis-sold and the finance provider was asked to restructure the loan so that the system became self-funding as he had been told it would be.
This resulted in an overall reduction to the loan of almost £4,000 and the loan was able to be restructured in such a way that Mr D ‘s loan balance was written off and he had no further repayments to make. He was able to keep the solar panels and the associated benefits.
