Careless driving causes serious injuries

To raise awareness of APIL’s Injury Awareness Week, David Gregor from our serious and personal injury team describes a recent case of his where his client received multiple injuries as a result of an accident.
At True Solicitors, our experienced and trusted team fight hard to recover compensation for our clients and seek the treatment and rehabilitation they need to get on with their lives.
Careless driving causes serious injuries
Our client was riding along the road on his motorbike on his way home.
A 3rd party driver who was in a parked position on the left-hand side pulled away and entered our client’s lane blocking their way. Our client collided with the vehicle on the driver’s side, flipped over the car and landed on the ground.
He suffered multiple injuries including a left wrist fracture, back pain, an injury to his genitals, a sprain to his right knee which was later revealed as a complex tear requiring surgery and bruising to both of his thighs.
His back injury required sessions of physio with a recovery prognosis of 17 months post his accident. The injury to his genitals required further investigation by a urologist, and the injury to his wrist was severe with an expected long-term deformity, possibly requiring further surgery.
The 3rd party driver admitted liability for causing the accident and our client received £25,000 in compensation for his injuries. The compensation would have exceeded the amount paid had the client had surgery, however he made the decision not to both at the time of his accident to his wrist, and to his wrist and knee following a recommendation by a medical expert.
