Mis-Sold PPI Claims

How do I know if I am eligible to make a mis-sold PPI claim?

If you’ve had a credit card, loan, mortgage, finance agreement or store card, there’s a very good chance that it came with PPI (Payment Protection Insurance).  You may not have known you were buying PPI, or the PPI you were sold may not have been appropriate for you.
If PPI is found to have been mis-sold PPI, then compensation is payable as a result.

PPI was widely mis-sold prior to regulation changes in 2009, when single premium PPI was banned. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has now announced a time limit for making your claim and any PPI mis-selling claim must be made before 29th August 2019.

We may be able to investigate your PPI mis-selling claim if;

  • You purchased a PPI policy before 2010 and you believe it was mis-sold to you
  • You have not received a refund (either partial or full) for the PPI
  • You are not currently in arrears with the lender
  • You have never utilised or claimed on the PPI policy (for instance during sickness or unemployment)
  • You have not been in an IVA or Bankruptcy since taking the PPI

Previously rejected PPI claims

If you bought PPI, the price you paid for the policy is likely to have included a commission that was then passed to the lender or provider. Consumers were not usually told about this and so did not realise that when they were buying PPI, they were paying for a large commission IN ADDITION to their actual PPI policy.

Often, these hidden commissions were over 50% of the price paid for the PPI. Following a decision by the Supreme Court, and guidance from the Financial Conduct Authority, if you bought PPI and it included a high level of ‘undisclosed commissions’ then compensation may be payable.

You do not need to know how much commission was paid for your PPI. Even if your lender has previously rejected a PPI mis-selling complaint, you are still entitled to make a new complaint to find out if you have paid a high level of ‘undisclosed commissions’.

If you bought PPI and your previous mis-selling complaint has been rejected, then we can investigate an ‘undisclosed commissions’ claim for you if;

    • You purchased a single premium PPI on a secured loan
    • The last loan repayment was within the last 5 years
    • You have not received a refund (either partial or full) for the PPI
    • You are not currently in arrears with the lender
    • You have never utilised or claimed on the PPI policy (for instance during sickness or unemployment)
    • You have not been in an IVA or Bankruptcy since taking the PPI
